I had the most wonderful time with Chigbo and Lydia, first in Scotland for a shoot on a beautiful sunny day around the garden at home with all the rhododendrons and azaleas as a backdrop and picked for a couple of bouquets. Part two of their UK wedding was down south the following weekend. Turning up on the Friday, the preparations were in full swing with everyone pitching in to get everything ready. A real Barclay Sister production.
There was always going to be colour at this wedding being half Nigerian and half Scottish and what a feast it was: afternoon tea on the lawn of the Vicarage, a wander down to the church for a beautiful service led by Lydia’s brother and grandfather then back to the marque for a traditional procession led by the Nigerian ladies. Needless to say everyone else had to join in. Dinner, the cutting of the cake and the speeches were such a happy affair followed by an African Ceilidh band. Now that’s a sound I want to hear again. It was a fantastic, happy and brilliantly colourful day.
